The Technisonic TFM-566 is a dual band, frequency agile airborne FM
transceiver designed to provide radio communications on every available
channel in the VHF General Service hi band (138 to 174 MHz) and enable
communications in the International VHF lo band (66 to 88 MHz). This
transceiver is able to tune in 2.5 KHz steps providing both 12.5 KHz
(narrow band) or 25.0 KHz (wide band) operation in both bands.
Additionally, the TFM-566 features a 2 channel, synthesized VHF high
band guard receiver. This transceiver can be operated as a single radio
(one band at a time) occupying a single audio controller position or it
can be installed in "dual mode" to two audio controller positions
(typically FM1 and FM2) allowing for simultaneous operation in both
bands. The TFM-566 can also act as a cross-band repeater and offers 400
memory positions (200 per band) each of which is capable of storing a
transmit frequency, a receive frequency, a separate CTCSS tone and/or
DPL/DCS digital squelch code for each transmit and receive frequency,
and a nine character alpha-numeric identifier for each channel. All data
and software control functions are via the front panel 12 button
keypad. Operating frequency, alpha numeric identifier and other related
data are presented on a 96 character, four line LED matrix display. The
small size and light weight of the TFM-566 make it ideal for helicopter
installation.
